Outstanding. The details of early enlargement photos like this can easily become folk art representations, but the snapshot ushers us right back into reality.

It is with relative certainty that I say those hands saw slavery, holding someone coming into their adult prime during the Civil Rights movement. Feels GOOD.

Measures 10 x 16” sight size, has clearly seen water. Paint nearly stripped from the original wood frame, and two spots of water loss near bottom corners. Heavy acid toning ghost behind snapshot. Clearly hung with the child throughout his life.
